Selkie at the Seaside

One of my all-time favourite things to do is to pack up and take my crochet to the beach with me for an hour (or preferably longer). This time of year is when my day-job just gets totally bonkers so I try to make the most of my precious days off work and spend as much time as I can relaxing and crocheting (the two go hand in hand: crochet really is my 'me time') - I try to take lots of photos too, so that when I'm all frazzled and burnt out from work I can look back and remember that I don't always feel like that.

So here are a few photos from my days off...

I'm really at my happiest with my crochet and sitting in the shade on the beach all on my own - the hours just seem to kind of melt away...

these ones were from yesterday - it's just so peaceful right at the very end of the beach...

I'm on my second day off work today but Peter is working all day so I'm staying closer to home and catching up on the washing/house-work side of things instead.

Before I forget though -- this is my biggest news -- my parcel from the ladies at Lighthouse Yarns arrived last week!! Look at what they sent me  :) I'm thrilled with each and every item! Actually once I've updated my blog the next thing on my to-do list for today is to wind the skeins into proper balls of yarn :) The yarns they sent me are just so luxurious and are ones that I love to use myself -- I so love 'proper posh' yarns but my normal budget doesn't permit me to use them as every-day items.

Finally, yet another 'crocheting outdoors' photo - this kind of sums up my life on my days off (if the sun is shining, that is!)

Lucky Me :D

Oh my goodness - I entered a competition on facebook and have won £100 worth of goodies from the wonderful lighthouse yarns facebook page :)

check them out here... https://www.facebook.com/lighthouseyarns?fref=photo

I'm so so excited!! They'll be posting out my prize early next week and I'll be reporting back on all my new goodies so watch this space :)

It's just perfect timing and a real gift out of the blue - I'm thrilled, really really over the moon about this.

I've been going through a pretty stressful time lately with my health and this is just the most perfect, wonderful surprise gift!!!

July...

This is the pair of wrist warmers I was still working on last month - they've been all over the place with me - here they are at the beach!

and here they are, all finished! they are now listed in my Etsy shop - I'm so terrible for making things and then procrastinating when it comes to getting the photos taken and the listings written -- I so hate that side of running an etsy shop.

I've been having a bit of a clear out and a tidy up of my (whisper it) SIX yarn boxes and found this lovely merino wool, which I had totally forgotten about -- so I've run up a pair of wrist warmers in it :) I just have enough left for one more pair now -- I really should keep a better track of what I actually have in stock or at least know what box it's likely to be in.

Up til now I haven't been terribly organised with this: but now I have a box for my King Cole yarns and a box which is just for my cotton yarns -- that leaves four more boxes which are just randomly full of yarns -- which is about as organised as I can get!
